Phoenix CC will, for the first time in the clubs long history, enter a team in the The An Post Rás – the annual eight-day stage race around Ireland – that will take place from May 18th-25th, 2014.
The Rás, first held in 1953, has a worldwide reputation of being a gruelling challenge in the elite international calendar allowing amateur county and club riders to pit themselves against domestic and international professionals.
This year the team of Alex Donald, Mike Millar, Fergus Rooney, Brian Stewart and Daniel Stewart managed by Cormac McCann will take on 1260 kilometres over eight stages with 36 categorised climbs, including five category one climbs, Doonagore, Coomanaspic, Seskin Hill, Corabutt Gap and Mount Leinster.
