Ulster CX round 1 – Lurgan

The 2013 Ulster cyclocross series kicked off on sunday 6th Oct in fine bright conditions. Apollo CC had laid out a fast flowing course around Lurgan park, aided by recent dry conditions. Over 200 riders took part in races for all age categories.
In the kids races, Phoenix had representation in U8, U10 and U12. Moya O’Kane put placed 5th in the U8 girls race – a good start to season. Shea O’Kane was involved in tight race for U10 and made podium with 2nd place. Well done Shea. Eoin O’Gorman raced hard in the U12 and finished strongly. In women’s race, Gill Smith took 1st place with Val O’Neil 3rd. In B race, Karl Dolan took an impressive win in his first CX race. The main even of the day was A race won by current national champion Roger Aiken.  John Bogues was top Phoenix rider in 6th place overall and first in supervet category. Congratulations to all riders who made for such an enjoyable day.
