Cycling Ulster Unsung Hero Award

Its true what they say ’Not all hero’s wear capes’! Some wear a blue woolly hat and drive a white van.
The Cycling Ulster Awards night saw our very own Eamon Burns receiving the Cycling Ulster Unsung Hero Award and we can’t think of anyone more deserving. Eamon began cycling in the 1950’s, he represented N. Ireland at the 1958 Commonwealth Games and continued to race until 2003. Although he’s no longer cycling this unsung hero selflessly remains a stalwart of the club. He is continually involved with races, marshalling and social events. Now in his 80’s he still attends the HOS every Saturday morning to welcome, assist and advise newcomers. He works tirelessly at cycling events across Ulster and is a familiar figure assisting riders at national events.
Saturday mornings just wouldn’t be the same without his cheeky smile and fun loving conversation!
